    Community Use of Schools

Opening the door to support healthy, active lifestyles

Community Use of Schools is an initiative that supports access to school space outside of school hours for not-for-profit community groups.

It is the policy of the Lakehead District School Board to make available to the community the Board’s school buildings, facilities and grounds provided use does not conflict with regular school use and is economically feasible.

For the detailed policy description, refer to Lakehead District School Board Policy and Procedures 8011.

Interested user groups may contact individual schools to obtain available dates. Groups are required to complete an “Application/Permit for Use of Schools” available through our Online Booking System or by contacting the Community Use Officer .

    • See “User Categories” below for category definitions.
    • Schools shall be available to non-profit user groups from 6 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and for eight hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
    • All rentals require proof of liability insurance.
    • Compliance with all taxing and licensing requirements shall be the responsibility of the user.
