The
Instructional Materials Centre has been providing a diverse collection
of media resources to teachers since 1979. It grew and expanded from the
original Co-operative Film Library, established in 1969, to include
resources from all over the system. Over the years it has developed into
a first class resource library for teachers and is now able to boast an
impressive variety of curriculum related media and support for classroom
teachers. We now have streamed video into our classrooms through
two delivery systems - MonD and Learn360 and we continue to
explore new ways of providing service to the teachers and classrooms of
Lakehead Public Schools.
The Instructional
Materials Centre is responsible for the acquisition, cataloguing,
circulation and storage of approximately 1300 digital files, 300 VHS/DVS
programs and 800 multi-media kits.
As well, the IMC provides a fully equipped Teacher’s Workroom
where teachers can come to laminate, photocopy, and
produce a wide range of resources for their classrooms.
Do-It-Yourself on-site workroom use is FREE for employees of Lakehead
Public Schools, our Insource service is available at a small cost to
Lakehead Public Schools educators, and External/Personal use is also
permitted and prices are posted.
Our operating hours are 8:30 a.m. -
5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. The IMC Staff
look forward to seeing and serving you.
