Video Store Licence Agreement
We pay for two licences that allow teachers to rent or bring from home, feature length movies and legally show them in the classroom without breaking copyright.  Once you have viewed the movie just record the title and producer (studio) on the sheet provided with the VCR./DVD player.  As part of our licencing agreement we must send these user sheets back to the two companies involved.  Educational videos that individuals borrow from the IMC have already been purchased with public performance rights and users are not required to record this information on the Video Usage Forms.  For more details click here.

Copyright Information
All schools in Canada are governed by the copyright law. It protects the rights of creators to be paid for, and to control the use of their works. It is important to know that a copyright law exists and that teachers and students are obliged to abide by the law. It is a criminal offence to break copyright law even if this is done for non-profit and/or educational purposes. Teachers illegally duplicating copyright materials or using illegally-produced copies of materials MUST stop this practice immediately. This includes the copying and using of print material excluded from the CANCOPY agreement, taping of audiocassettes, showing videocassettes obtained from home or video stores that are not covered under licences, and television programs taped off-air.

The Board will take any breaches of copyright very seriously. In addition to any actions that might be taken by a copyright owner, the Board will hold employees and students who knowingly and willingly infringe on copyright legislation or licencing agreements personally accountable for the illegality of this behaviour. The Board may seek compensation including any legal expenses, cost, settlements or rewards resulting for the breach of copyright. Individuals who breach copyright or licences may be restricted or prohibited from use of Board equipment and resources. The legal or insurance protection of the Board will not be extended to employees who violate these laws.
