Celebrating 30 Years of Adult Education

LAEC New LogoThe ongoing legacy of Adult Education will be celebrated on Thursday, June 15 at the Lakehead Adult Education Centre.  The annual end of the year barbecue celebration had some added sizzle this year as the Centre celebrated 30 years of Lakehead Public Schools Adult Education.

“Lakehead Public Schools Adult Education has changed countless lives in our community and it is more than worthy of celebrating,” says Denise Baxter, Manager of Lakehead Adult Education Centre.  “We are also very excited to include a very special unveiling of our newly refreshed logo during the barbeque celebration.”

The original logo of the Phoenix was created by former graduate Chief Wilfrid King of Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek – Gull Bay First Nation 30 years ago.  The logo was refreshed by artist Jay Meekis.  Originally from Sandy Lake FN, Jay now resides in Thunder Bay and attends school at the Lakehead Adult Education Centre.  Through his school work, his artistic talents have shone through. Jay agreed to refresh the school logo of the Phoenix adding his own personal style.  The artwork is designed in the traditional Woodlands style.
