The Lakehead Learning Foundation was created in 2003 as an independent, charitable foundation dedicated to raising funds for Lakehead Public Schools students. Funds raised through the Foundation have been directed to graduating secondary students in the form of scholarships, to help fund the Grade 8 Awards of Excellence and to support the Student Assistance Fund (SAF). The SAF provides funds to each school to help students address financial obstacles including field trips, basic school supplies and before and after school programs to name a few.
Since its inception, the Foundation has raised funds through donations – Celebrations of Life (In Memory) and through an annual golf tournament. This year’s 11th Anniversary Lakehead Learning Foundation Golf Tournament, held Monday, August 25 at Whitewater Golf Club, raised over $20,000. Individual donations can be made online at https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/14081 or by mail or in person at 2135 Sills Street Thunder Bay, ON P7E 5T2. Donors who make a donation online through Canada Helps will receive a downloadable tax receipt from Canada Helps. For donations made over the phone or by mail, The Lakehead Learning Foundation will mail a tax receipt to the donor’s mailing address.
