Busy as Bees!

Hammarskjold High School was a bee hive of activity as Junior and Senior Kindergarten students from Woodcrest Public School teamed up with Hammarskjold High School Grade 9 Exploring Technology Students to work on a very sweet project. The Woodcrest students were as busy as bees as they constructed pollinator houses with their Grade 9 buddies on Thursday, April 5. Pollinator houses provide shelter and nesting areas for native bee populations.

“Our students have been learning about bees, their habitats and how important they are to the entire world,” says Virginia Steele, Kindergarten Teacher at Woodcrest Public School. “They are very excited to be making the houses that will help the bees in our community.”

In addition to working with the students from Hammarskjold High School, the Woodcrest students were visited by members of Roots to Harvest to learn more about bees as they prepared to begin the pollinator house project.
