Eid Celebration
On Thursday June 13, Lakehead Public Schools students from a number of schools will be joining together at the Boys and Girls Club to celebrate Eid. Many Muslims in Canada celebrate Eid al-Fitr on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar.
“Eid marks the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan and the start of a feast that lasts up to three days in some countries,” says Sheri Cressman, English Language Learner Teacher. “Lakehead Public Schools appreciates and recognizes the importance of our student’s heritage and diverse backgrounds.”
Students will be sharing a pot luck lunch of traditional dishes from their homelands as well as participating in many activities at the Boys and Girls club.
