New Masking Regulation includes Grades 1-3 & Outdoors

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Following the announcement by the Office of the Premier on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, we are confirming that all of our schools remain open with no changes to learning schedules or locations.

There are only a few changes arising from the Office of the Premier’s announcement that affect our school communities. Beginning Thursday, January 14th:

  • Masking for students in grades 1-3 is now mandatory, and is also recommended for students in Kindergarten;
  • Students in grades 1-12 are now required to wear a mask outdoors;
  • Students in grades 1-12 must wear a mask when riding the bus. It is also recommended that students in Kindergarten are masked on the bus as well.

Should you be unable to provide your child with a mask, please contact your school principal (elementary) or vice principal (secondary).

Students and staff will continue to use the daily COVID-19 screening tool prior to attending school in person. Any Ministry updates to the screening tool will automatically be made to the website.

Thank you for your cooperation and your contribution to keeping our schools a safe place to learn.

Should you require this information in an accessible/alternate format, please contact communications@lakeheadschools.ca.
