Renewal Plan Final Staff Report Presented to Board
At this evening’s Special Board Meeting, the Lakehead District School Board received the final staff report from Administration which contains the final recommendations for the North Side and South Side Renewal Plans. Following a public delegation process in September, Trustees will vote on the final recommendations on Tuesday, October 4.
Administration provided the following recommendations for consideration of the Board:
North Side Renewal Plan
Approve the consolidation of students from Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute into Hammarskjold High School for the 2017-2018 school year and approve the closure of St. James Public School, C.D. Howe Public School and Vance Chapman Public School, effective June 30, 2018 relocating students from these schools to the renovated Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute site, effective September 2018.
South Side Renewal Plan

Johnston Public School and Edgewater Park Public School, effective June 30, 2018 relocating students from these schools to a newly constructed elementary school on the Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute site, effective September 2018.
Following the commencement of the pupil accommodation review and the establishment of the Accommodation Review Committees (ARCs), consultation with stakeholders began. Community consultation, including public meetings, provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss and provide input about the options presented in February’s initial staff report.
Stakeholders who wish to provide further input regarding the recommendations that have been provided to Trustees in the Final Staff Report will be able to do so through a delegation process in September. The process for requesting a delegation will be posted in the Renewal section of the Lakehead Public Schools website at www.lakeheadschools.ca.
