May is Asian and South Asian Heritage Month
Lakehead District School Board celebrates Asian Heritage month. We recognize the significant contributions made by Asians and South Asians to the growth and prosperity in Canada. Asians include persons who are of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai and Indonesian descent. South Asians include persons who are of East Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Indo-Caribbean descent. This is a great opportunity to learn about their stories and contributions.
We also reflect on past and present day racism that continues to affect these communities. At Lakehead District School Board, we strive to eradicate racial discrimination. We endeavour to create a climate that is safe, welcoming, inclusive and respectful that benefits all.
