Stand Against Racism

At Lakehead District School Board, we are deeply saddened and grieving with Muslim families and the larger community as a result of the recent news of a hate-motivated racist attack on a Muslim family in London, Ontario, resulting in the tragic loss of four members of that family. Due to this horrific event, we understand that some students, families and staff may feel unsafe or distressed. We encourage you to seek support. Students seeking support can visit:

Staff can access the Employee and Family Assistance Program at Homewood Health. At Lakehead District School Board, we support human rights and that means identifying and addressing racial discrimination and hate. We recognize that the harmful effects of Islamophobia persist in society and we strive to address it. Violence and hatred based on religion have no place at Lakehead District School Board. We urge everyone to take a stand against racism and hate.
