A Superior Jelly Session

It’s not a jam session, it’s a jelly session! The Foods and Nutrition students at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute learned about making jelly on Thursday, September 29! The students had the unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of jelly making with Superior staff member and local jelly maker Pat Wielobob using locally sourced produce.

“The students used local grapes and apples to learn how to make jelly,” says Patricia Cibinel, Family Studies Teacher, Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute. “In addition, the students learned about proper canning procedures in relation to our discussions on food safety.”

The grapes were grown and donated by Maria and Bruno D’Angelo and the apples were donated by another local source.
