Being Busy as Bees Pays Off!

In April, Junior and Senior Kindergarten students from Woodcrest Public School teamed up with Hammarskjold High School Grade 9 Exploring Technology Students to construct pollinator houses. The sale of the pollinator houses resulted in $480 that will be donated to Roots to Harvest on Friday, June 8. Pollinator houses provide shelter and nesting areas for native bee populations.

“This was a wonderful project for our students to learn about bees as they constructed the houses with their Hammarskjold friends,” says Virginia Steele, Kindergarten Teacher at Woodcrest Public School. “It was also a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about bees from Roots to Harvest. We are also very proud to donate the proceeds of the houses to Roots to Harvest to help them to continue their valuable work in our community.”
