Building Character

On Friday, December 7, students in the Westmount Public School Global Citizen Academy will be rolling up their sleeves and working to make the holiday season better for children in our community. The Academy students have been working side by side with Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute Technology students as they build wooden toys and refurbish bikes for the Christmas Cheer Fund.

“Our students have been working extremely hard with their older counterparts at Westgate to make the holiday season just a little more special for children in our community,” says Lisa Dampier, Westmount Public School Global Citizen Academy Teacher. “We are proud to have this opportunity to contribute to our community at this very special time of the year. This partnership with Westgate continues to grow and flourish!”

The Global Citizen Academy students have been working with the Westgate Technology students throughout this term to complete the projects for the Christmas Cheer Fund. Home Depot has generously donated toy kits that will be assembled and detailed by the students as part of this very special holiday project.

The Westmount Public School Global Citizen Academy will also continue their efforts for the holiday season on Monday, December 17 then they join the legions of volunteers at the CLE as they assist the Christmas Cheer Fund to prepare the holiday hampers.
