Celebration of Creativity and Ingenuity

Show and tell just isn’t for kindergarten students! On Wednesday, June 6, Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute will be hosting a show and tell of sorts as they celebrate their yearlong Video Game Creation Program in partnership with Youth Fusion and Student Success Branch of the Ministry of Education. The students were also supported by Pierce Baker, a Computer Science Major from Lakehead University.

“This program has been an incredible opportunity for our students to develop their skills, technical and interpersonal, as they completed the program,” says Dan Turk, Chair of Technology at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute. “I believe that the Youth Fusion mandate of creatively motivating high school students to excel, to get more involved in their academic success, to strengthen their school spirit and their sense of belonging was more than met at Superior CVI.”

During the course of this project, the Superior CVI students work collaboratively and go through the entire process of creating, developing, and completing a video game. The students have received training in numerous disciplines from project partner Ubisoft, and are shepherded by mentors who follow the teams’ progress regularly.

During the Video Game Creation Program celebration on Wednesday, June 6, the video games will be on display and ready to play.
