Vote

X Marks the Spot!

Students in Grades 4 to 8 at Kingsway Park Public School will be casting their votes on Monday, June 4 in advance of the Thursday, June 7 Provincial Election. The students are participating in Students Vote, a program that runs parallel elections for every municipal, provincial and federal election. Kingsway Park has been participating in Student Vote for the past 10 years.

“Student Vote is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about government and the electoral process, research the parties and platforms, discuss relevant issues and cast ballots for the official election candidates,” says Lorraine Valley, Grade 5 Teacher at Kingsway Park Public School. “The students in the Grade 5 class has spent the last month researching each of the six candidates in the Thunder Bay-Atikokan riding. We have also followed the leaders of the parties, viewed debates and tracked polling numbers.”

The Grade 5 classroom will be set up for each class to using ballots similar to the real thing. Voting results will not be released until June 7th. Kingsway students have accurately predicted each election for the last ten years!
