Churchill Tech Standing Up to Violence Against Women

Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute Technology students are taking a stand against violence against women during the week of December 1, the week leading up to the 25th anniversary of the École Polytechnique where a lone gunman killed 14 female students and wounded an additional 14 women on December 6, 1989. In addition to providing information to fellow students and staff about healthy relationships and stopping violence against women and girls, they are going to be collecting female toilet items such as shampoo and soap items that will be sent to Faye Peterson Transition Home and the Beendigan Crisis Home.

“The Montreal Massacre was a horrific event twenty five years ago and the suffering attributed to violence against women and girls continues,” says Dave Isherwood, Principal of Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute Technology. “I am extremely proud of what our Technology students and staff are doing to raise awareness of the issue of violence against women and girls,”
