Robotics Summer Camp

Dōmo Arigatō, Mr. Roboto

Claude E. Garton Public School is the place to be on Wednesday, July 11 as students in Grades 1 to 5 from numerous Lakehead Public Schools elementary schools are learning the ins and outs of robotics at a special summer learning camp. The elementary students will be learning and working with high school and university students and teaching staff as they learn to code and operate robots.

“We are very excited to once again provide this opportunity for students to have fun and continue to build their literacy and numeracy skills during the summer break,” says Donica LeBlanc, Supervising Principal – Early Years, Lakehead Public Schools. “By participating in this program, students will be able to experience coding, a skill that is in high demand throughout the world.”

The students will be using Scratch, Sphero and Dash robots as they learn to code. The resources available at the camp will be provided to schools this coming Fall. The skills leaned by both the teachers and the students during the summer program will be transferred into the classrooms.
