Embarking on a Trip of Lifetime

Forty-two students and five staff chaperones from Hammarskjold High School checked their bags and presented their travel documents as they boarded the plane to Toronto to begin their journey on to France. The students and staff joined thousands of other Canadian students as they head to the Centenary Commemorative Ceremony at the Vimy Ridge Memorial Site in France on Sunday April 9th.

“A lot of planning has gone into this trip and we are very excited that we are about to embark on this historic journey,” says Jason Timko, Hammarskjold High School Geography Teacher and Trip Chaperone. “We are well prepared for what we expect will be a very moving and historic observance of this very important moment in Canadian history.”

On Thursday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m., Hammarskjold High School students and staff were at Thunder Bay International Airport at 3:30 p.m. prior to departure. Representatives from the Lakehead District School Board and Thunder Bay City Council were in attendance.
