Five Mile Learning Academy News

The Grade 6/7 Five Mile Learning Academy partnered with the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, under the guidance of Vivian Wood-Alexander, to focus on wellness and self-expression through Environmental Visual Arts.

As part of the Academy, the class created a large scale Eco-Art work, transforming a fallen tree into a “living” creature using a clay-based paint.

Students came to understand Eco-Art as a form of art that uses natural materials, is created in an outdoor space and is designed to disappear or change over time.

During the day, students created individual works of Environmental Art to help express themselves, create an artwork using only natural materials and to improve their relationship with nature.

The works of art created were nothing but inspiring and added a creative touch to the beautiful playground green space!
