Host International Students in Thunder Bay

Canada Homestay NetworkIn partnership with The Canada Homestay Network (CHN), Lakehead Public Schools International is looking for caring homestay hosts for international students coming to study at our schools in Thunder Bay.

Being a homestay host is a rewarding experience. When you make the decision to welcome an international student into your home, you make a lasting contribution to your family, your community and the student.

There are year-round hosting opportunities with students of high school age of many nationalities and hosts can welcome short-term or long-term students. Canada Homestay Network provides cultural and first language support to hosts and their students 24/7 and a generous allowance ($775/month) to help offset expenses.

Why I Host

Homestay families get to open their home to the world and learn about different cultures, develop life-long friendships and ensure the local community and economy benefits from a growing international education industry. International students get to learn about Canadian culture in a healthy, caring environment, bring a world-view to their communities back home and a positive introduction to Canadian family life often encourages students to seek to stay and contribute to the community through additional schooling or work.
