Hyde Park Café

Writing skills and parent engagement were the two main items at the Hyde Park Public School Writers Café on Thursday, April 20. Students in the Grade 1/2 class served up examples of their writing skills for their parents and guardians along with some tasty treats.

“The students have been working very hard on their writing skills throughout the year and were looking forward to sharing their progress with their parents and guardians,” says Susan Lieske, Grade 1/2 Teacher, Hyde Park Public School. “The café was a fun way for parents and guardians to see what their children have been doing in class in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.”

The Writers Café is just like any café – there was placemats, flowers, decorations and of course, a treat table. Writer’s Cafe guests shared a piece of student writing with their child and then gave a compliment and a next step for them.
