The Lakehead Public Schools Foundation was created in 2003 as an independent, charitable foundation dedicated to raising funds for Lakehead Public Schools students. Funds raised through the Foundation have been directed to graduating secondary students in the form of scholarships, to help fund the Grade 8 Awards of Excellence and to support the Student Assistance Fund (SAF). The SAF provides funds to each school to help students address financial obstacles including field trip, basic school supplies and before and after school programs to name a few.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised funds through donations – Celebrations of Life (In Memory) and through an annual golf tournament. The 14th Anniversary Lakehead Public Schools Foundation Golf Tournament, held Monday, August 28 2017 at Whitewater Golf Club, raised $22,500. Individual donations can be made online at https://www.canadahelps.org or by mail or in person at 2135 Sills Street Thunder Bay, ON P7E 5T2. Donors who make a donation online through Canada Helps will receive a downloadable tax receipt from Canada Helps. For donations made over the phone or by mail, The Lakehead Public Schools Foundation will mail a tax receipt to the donor’s mailing address.

“We are extremely grateful to the individuals and businesses who support The Lakehead Public Schools Foundation,” says Harris. “Through your donations, we are able to help realize the dreams of our students.”
