We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dolores Wawia.
Dolores was a founding member of the Lakehead Public Schools Aboriginal Education Advisory Committee and continued to serve as co-chair until her passing.
Dolores was an advocate for all children and for the importance of indigenous culture to be woven into all aspects of the curriculum.
Lakehead Public Schools has made significant strides in Indigenous Education over the years. This would never have occurred without the direct guidance of Dolores.
Our sympathies go to her family, friends, colleagues and former students.
