SEAC is pleased to announce that LIVE PRESENTATIONS will be offered to provide valuable information on a variety of topics affecting children of all ages, such as:
- Learning disabilities
- Anxiety
- The impact of social media and the pandemic on mental health

Presenter: Dr. Todd Cunningham
Topic: Learning disabilities and supporting your child with a learning disability
Dr. Cunningham is a Clinical and School Psychologist, Assistant Professor, Chair of the School and Clinical Child Psychology program at the University of Toronto, and provides psychological services through his private practice. His research investigates the support of students with learning difficulties. Some of his projects involve looking at new techniques in psychological assessments, evaluation of assistive technology, professional development in literacy and numeracy, and telepsychology.

Presenter: Jim Lees
Topic: Kids and social media: The COVID Impact
Jim Lees, MSW, RSW, MBA, is a registered social worker and private consultant in Thunder Bay. He has three decades of experience working in the college system as a teacher, counsellor, researcher and a manager in student services. Mr. Lees has a special passion for promoting the mental health of young people, leading the development of a Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy at Confederation College and was also the Co-Chair of the Mental Health in Ontario Postsecondary Working Group which worked to improve campus environments to support mental health and well-being across Ontario. He currently serves on the Board of the Children’s Centre Thunder Bay which provides mental health services to children, youth and their families.

Presenter: Dr. Christopher Mushquash
Topic: Stress and anxiety management strategies for parents to support their children, and themselves, during the pandemic
Christopher Mushquash, HBSc., M.A., Ph.D., C.Psych., is Ojibway and a member of Pawgwasheeng (Pays Plat First Nation). He is a registered clinical psychologist in Ontario, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Lakehead University and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Clinical Psychologist at Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, Associate Vice President of Research at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, and Chief Scientist at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute. He is a Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Mental Health and Addiction, with expertise in rural and northern clinical practice and the development of culturally appropriate interventions for mental health and addiction difficulties in First Nations children, adolescents, and adults.
