Churchill Relay for Life

Relay Efforts Continue to Pay Off

In typical Trojan fashion, the final Relay for Life event to be held at Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute was a resounding success! The Relay for Life event held on the grounds of the school raised $15,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. A cheque presentation will be made to representatives of the Canadian Cancer Society on Thursday, June 21.

“We are extremely proud of the funds that this first time event raised to support the efforts of the Canadian Cancer Society,” says Ryan McDonnell, Vice Principal at Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute. “Churchill students and staff will be forever remembered for their kindness and dedication to our community. Many thanks go out to everyone who supported this wonderful event!”

The Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute Relay for Life was held on Friday, June 1 on the grounds of the school. The opening ceremonies included a message from cancer survivor and Claude E. Garton Public School Teacher Tanya Gouthro. Following the opening and the survivor lap, there was a BBQ and activities throughout the night.
