Stepping Up at Crestview

In recognition of “October is Child Abuse Prevention Month”, Crestview Public School proudly supported the Step Up 2017 campaign. The campaign was supported with each individual classroom providing a lesson on the importance of every child.
School staff addressed child abuse based on the students’ developmental understanding. The focus was on every child is important and has a voice and needs to be seen and heard and we as a community can help support children who are in need. Individual identity was celebrated with each student completing a cut out of themselves which was displayed at the front of the school. Crestview students and staff also supported a Wear Purple Day on October 24 to show their unity against child abuse.
In 2009, Dilico Anishinabek Family Care and The Children’s Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay introduced the Step Up campaign. Every year throughout the month of October, Step Up encourages residents, businesses, families, and schools to step up and take responsibility for the safety, happiness and well-being of children by participating in a variety of initiatives.
