Relay for Life

The Relay Begins!

On Friday, June 9, a new era for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life begins! On this day, the Relay for Life will kick into high gear at Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute. Churchill students and staff have been working diligently to ensure that the Relay is a memorable experience for all participants.

“It really is exciting for us to be able to pick up the torch and continue the event following the conclusion to the local chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event,” says Ryan McDonnell, Student Success Teacher at Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute. “After a significant amount of time in planning, we are excited to finally host the event and continue the tradition of philanthropy and awareness of this devastating disease.”

The Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute Relay for Life will be held on Friday, June 9 from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. on the grounds of the school. The opening ceremonies will be held at 6:30 p.m. with a message from cancer survivor and former Churchill teacher Helen Alexander. Following the opening, there will be here will be a survivor lap for participating Cancer survivors to walk a lap together. Following the opening there will be a BBQ and activities throughout the night. The event will be moved indoors in the event of rain.
