Tying Up an Alluring Partnership
Students in the Kingsway Public School Fine Arts and Outdoors Learning Academies are teaming up with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is teaming up to have a unique look at the outdoors and the arts. A MNRF crew will bring in their knowledge of fisheries biology and management to help students to make lures and tie flies that might attract fish based on some of their biology.
“They will be focused on colour combinations and specific details to flies that will have a unique artistic touch to appeal to certain fish species,” says Darren Lentz, Principal of Kingsway Park Public School. “Students will gain first-hand experience and apply their new knowledge to make their own piece of artwork.”
The Kingsway Park Public School Learning Academy provides Grade 7 and 8 students with the opportunity to learn in an experiential and rigorous environment while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Curriculum. The Academy provides opportunities for students to participate in inquiry and/or project activities that encourage students to learn through active experience, reflect on the experience and apply their learning to various aspects of their lives.
