Summer Mental Health Workshops

Lakehead Public Schools students are invited to register for virtual mental health workshops taking place in July:

Anxiety 101 Virtual Workshop for Children July 6th 1-2 pm | Ages: 7-12

In this workshop children will learn more about anxiety, how their body/mind responds to anxiety and skills to manage these feelings. Register: http://bit.ly/LPS_1

Mental Health 101 Virtual Workshop for Youth July 8th 3-4 pm | Ages: 13-18

In this workshop youth will learn about mental health and the differences between mental distress and mental illness. Youth will also receive ways to cope and other resources. Register: http://bit.ly/LPS_2

Friending and Mending: A Guide to Peer Relationships Virtual Workshop July 13th 1-2 pm | Ages: 7-12

In this workshop children will learn about healthy vs unhealthy relationships, communication skills and how to manage conflict in relationships and identify positive supports. Register: http://bit.ly/LPS_03

A Guide to Building Healthy Relationships for Youth Virtual Workshop July 15th 3-4 pm | Ages: 13-18

In this workshop youth will learn about healthy vs unhealthy relationships, communication skills, boundary setting and how to manage conflict in relationships and identify positive supports.

Gender & Sexuality: What every child needs to know Virtual Workshop July 20th 1-2 pm | Ages: 7-12 In this workshop children will be engaged in a positive conversation about gender identity and sexuality

including a general background on the terminology and an opportunity to ask questions in a safe and welcoming environment. Register: http://bit.ly/LPS_05

Gender & Sexuality: What Every Parent/Caregiver Needs To Know Virtual Workshop July 21st 6-7:30 pm

This workshop will provide a general background on the terminology of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. There will be opportunities to explore personal beliefs and understandings of gender and sexual orientation, and to ask questions in a safe and welcoming environment. Special attention will be paid to the role of caregivers in providing access to accurate information, supporting youth, and practicing affirming caregiving. Self Esteem: Believing in Myself Virtual Workshop for Children July 27th 1-2 pm | Ages: 7-12

Self Esteem means having value and respect for yourself. In this workshop children will be introduced to the concept of self-esteem and effective ways to build their self-esteem as it applies to one’s body image, beliefs, emotions and behavior. Self Esteem: How to Improve my Confidence Virtual Workshop July 29th 3-4 pm | Ages: 13-18

Self-esteem is directly related to confidence. This workshop will focus on what it means to have healthy self- esteem and how adolescents can boost their confidence in their everyday world. Register: http://bit.ly/LPS_9
