Claude Students CANSkate!

Claude E. Garton Public School students, staff and CANSkate coaches will be celebrating the end of the second 10 week skating session of the CANSkate Program at Current River Arena on Monday, March 25.

“This program has been so beneficial for our students,” says Shannon Jessiman-MacArthur, Principal of Claude E. Garton Public School. “They are learning the basics of skating in a fun and interactive way, with a great team of coaches! It is an exciting step that they can take before they get to Grades 5 and 6 and can be part of Claude E. Garton’s Hockey Canada Skills Academy.”

CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity.
