Summer Camp on the Road

Over 200 students attending 11 separate Lakehead Public Schools summer learning camps will be coming together at a very special excursion to Fort William Historical Park on Wednesday, July 10. The Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 students will be participating in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) programming.
“We are very pleased to work with the Fort William Historical Park staff to provide this exciting day for our summer learning camp students,” says AJ Keene, Principal of Program and Early Learning, Lakehead Public Schools. “It will be a great day of experiential learning as the students rotate through the numerous cultural activity stations.”
Activities include:
- Necklace and bracelet making – North Canoe Shed
- Farm Visit – Farm
- Doubleball – Canoe Yard
- Fur Wars – Bell House Yard
- Tracks, Skulls and Fur – Fur Stores
- Lemonade/Water Break and Hand Games – Provision Store
- Wigwam Visit – Anishinaabe Encampment
- Relay Race – Main Square (by Corn Stores)
- Moccasin Game – Main Square (by Canteen)
