Westgate Students Jump on the Train
Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute Technology students have put their skills to good use as they assisted the Thunder Bay Railway Historical Society with a renovation project. The Westgate students worked with the Society to complete two significant projects for the CNR caboose 78175 located at Prince Arthur’s Landing.
The Westgate students built replacement cupola seats and a replica a replica water tank and coal bin for the caboose. The Thunder Bay Railway Historical Society supplied drawings and templates and the students built the appliances.
On Thursday, June 20, officials with the Thunder Bay Railway Historical Society will visit Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute to receive the completed projects. The items will be installed in the caboose in the coming weeks and plaques will be applied to acknowledge the students’ efforts.
