Kingsway – Hyde Cultural Celebrations

On Wednesday, June 10 and Thursday, June 11, students and staff of Kingsway Park Public School and Hyde Park Public School will be holding cultural celebrations recognizing Canada’s First Peoples.

“First Nations, Metis and Inuit people have a rich history, culture and language,” says Darren Lentz, Principal of Kingsway Park Public School. “Along with what they study in the curriculum, these days will provide a new opportunity for students to learn.”

Wednesday, June 10
9:00 a.m. to 12:45 a.m.
Students will attend various workshops run by a number of community members on topics including traditional games, food preparation, drumming/ dancing and Metis teachings.

Thursday, June 11
9:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Students will participate in a commemorative ceremony and garden planting.

11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
A finale Pow Wow will allow students to experience song and dance and to close the cultural celebrations.
