Goal Setting with an Olympic Gold Medal Winner!

McKellar Park Central Public School students will have a golden opportunity to learn all about goal setting from someone who not only scored in the Olympics, but also won a Gold Medal at the 2006 Olympics. Katie Weatherston will be working with students in Grades 3 to 8 as they learn about goal setting with an Olympic champion!

“We are very excited to welcome Katie to McKellar Park Central Public School as she will be a very inspirational example for our students as they learn more about their own personal goal setting,” says Jo-Anne Giertuga, Principal of McKellar Park Central Public School. “Who better to learn from about goal setting than an Olympic Gold Medalist?”

Katie Weatherston was born and raised in Thunder Bay. She attended Dartmouth College where she studied psychology and education as she played NCAA hockey. In addition to winning Gold at the 2007 World Championships in Winnipeg and Silver in the 2008 World Championships Harbin, China, Katie won a Gold Medal at the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy. Currently, Katie is the owner and head instructor of the Katie Weatherston Hockey School. She is also a real estate agent in Ottawa. In 2010, Katie had the honor of carrying the Olympic Torch in her hometown of Thunder Bay and in 2013 Katie was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
