International Student Lunar New Year Event

The Lakehead Public Schools International program is holding a luncheon celebration for the Lunar (Chinese) New Year for its visa paying students from countries such as China, Vietnam and Spain. In attendance will be students, host families and staff/community partner guests.

“The Lunar New Year is a very special event that is celebrated many days throughout East Asia and having this event cant bring together not only students who recognize this holiday, but also give opportunity to other attendees to share their cultural traditions for celebrating a new year,” says My-Tien Nguyen, International Student Coordinator, Lakehead Public Schools International.

The event will see a musical performance from the Thunder Bay Canadian-Chinese Association from 12:30 p.m. – 12:50 p.m., opportunities to take part in various activities such as traditional Chinese calligraphy, giving of red envelopes and learning about the Chinese Zodiac and event history, and network over a pot luck luncheon.
