Reaching Ahead

Twenty-three incoming Grade 9 students have been busy reaching ahead this summer! The students are completing their final week of a special program that is focused on literacy, numeracy, and science that has an indigenous cultural component embedded throughout the learning. The students will earn a Grade 9 credit for their summer efforts.
“This has a been a wonderful opportunity to hone and further develop their learning skills while preparing for secondary school and earning that first Grade 9 credit,” says Jane Lower, Student Success Leader, Lakehead Public Schools.
On Wednesday, August 30, the students will be working with a secondary school science teacher as they learn more about science by participating in chemistry experiments and activities.
