Churchill Relay

Relay Efforts Pay Off

The baton was passed to Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute students and staff this year and they responded in a very big way! The Relay for Life event held on the grounds of the school raised $15,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. A cheque presentation will be made to representatives of the Canadian Cancer Society on Wednesday, June 21.

“We are extremely proud of the funds that this first time event raised to support the efforts of the Canadian Cancer Society,” says Ryan McDonnell, Student Success Teacher at Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute. “The event also created greater awareness for our students of this devastating disease.”

The Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute Relay for Life was held on Friday, June on the grounds of the school. The opening ceremonies included a message from cancer survivor and former Churchill teacher Helen Alexander. Following the opening and the survivor lap around the track, there was a BBQ and activities throughout the night.
