Think Pink

Think Pink Pays Off!

The Westgate Tigers Girls Basketball Teams added a new colour to the old black and orange in October – Pink! The Westgate Tigers wore pink socks, headbands and warm-up shirts in their games against St. Patrick’s on October 19. Through their incredible efforts, the student athletes raised $2,056 for the Northern Cancer Research Fund! Fans were encouraged to donate at the door.

“We are incredibly proud of our Junior and Varsity players who continue to work hard in school, play hard on the court and support our community,” says Chuck Brown, Coach, Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute. “The Think Pink initiative has raised close to $8,000 since 2013. And one of our players went the extra mile to help us raise this year’s total.”

Kayla Gallo cut-off 12 inches of hair at half time of the annual Think Pink basketball game on October 19.

The hair and the funds will be presented to representatives of the Northern Cancer Research Fund on Tuesday, November 21 at 12:15 p.m. in the Large Gym.
