Ultimate Frisbee Inaugural Championships

On Thursday, October 13, students from 11 Lakehead Public Schools Elementary Schools will be trying their hand at a new sport on the sports schedule – Ultimate Frisbee! The fast paced, exciting game that is played on a soccer sized field features athleticism and a high degree of sportsmanship.

“Not only are throwing and catching integral components of Ultimate Frisbee, sportsmanship plays a key role as well,” says Michael Oades, Vice Principal of Ecole Gron Morgan Public School and Ultimate Frisbee Tournament Organizer. “This is one of the few sports that does not have a referee or an official on the field to monitor the game.”

Ultimate Frisbee players monitor their own play through what is referred to as “Spirit of the Game.” Fifteen teams from 11 schools will display their Spirit of the Game at the inaugural Lakehead Public Schools inaugural Ultimate Championship on Thursday, October 13 at Chapples Park. Extreme weather date is Friday, October 14.
