African Choir Visits Schools
The Asante Children’s Choir from Uganda performed a number of concerts throughout the week in Thunder Bay. In addition to the concerts, the students visited schools to learn about Canadian schools and the students who attend them!
On Tuesday, January 27, the Asante Children’s Choir visited St. James Public School to participate in a Large Drum lesson with the Biwaaseaa Program and the Grade 4/5 class. Afterwards they shared a snack and spent another 45 minutes with the after school program kids learning about hand drumming.
On Thursday, January 28, Vance Chapman Public School welcomed the Asante Children’s Choir as they visited the school to have lunch with the Vance students. Following lunch, the choir members joined the Grade 8 students in learning how to snowshoe! After snowshoeing the Vance students and their Ugandan counterparts headed inside for some hot chocolate!
