Hands-on Exploration

The Hammarskjold High School Grade 9 Exploring Technology Class will be visiting the Mills Block Conservation Area to work with representatives from the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. The students will be participating in hands-on stewardship and conservation projects for the site.

“We are very excited about this visit and the will be hanging of various different nesting boxes to improve the wildlife habitat in the environmentally significant area,” says Lisa McLeod, Exploring Technology Teacher at Hammarskjold High School. “The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources donated the materials for the project and the class worked to construct some of the nesting boxes.”

In addition, staff from both the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority will be onsite to speak to the student about various stewardship projects, healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, and potential conservation related career opportunities.
