Lakehead Public Schools Welcomes Second Group of International Students!

Lakehead Public Schools is excited to welcome their second group of international high school students to Thunder Bay with a special international student orientation taking place at Hammarskjold High School. The orientation will conclude with an evening event to see a WBSC Juniors Baseball World Cup game hosted by the Thunder Bay Multicultural Association. This is the second year of the international program and students are registered at all four high schools.

Seventeen new international study permit students from China, Vietnam and Spain will be attending secondary school at Lakehead Public Schools. Refugee students will also be included in the festivities to take in program orientation, icebreaker games, networking and a bbq luncheon.

Lakehead Public Schools International is proud to have passed their goal number of students for the 2017-2018 school year and are optimistic for the future years to come.

“We are very pleased to share our Canadian culture with this these students while they study in our schools. It will also be exciting to have the students share their cultures with our local students as they bring an international connection to the community,” says My-Tien Nguyen, Lakehead Public Schools International Student Coordinator.
