LPS Superior Volleyball Academy – Expression of Interest

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students, 

Lakehead Public Schools is exploring the possibility of launching a Volleyball Academy At Superior CVI as a pilot program in 2026 2027 for students in Grades 9 and 10. 

Program Overview (Proposed): 

Who: Grade 9/10 student-athletes who have recent experience as a volleyball player on an organized team and committed to improving their volleyball skills.  This co ed program is open to 30 students  

What :  Interested students will be registered into 2 periods of physical education / healthy living in either Semester one or Semester two with a focus on strengthening volleyball skills.  Double block (2 periods) in Semester one or two.  Student-athletes will be able to earn up to eight credits during the year including the two academy electives.  The program will be designed with players in mind and allow students to graduate high school with the necessary OSSD requirements.

Where: Superior CVI

When: 26/27 school year.   

Community Partnership: Community Partnerships will be announced if there is sufficient interest in the Superior CVI Volleyball Academy.

Participants :  maximum of 30 Grade 9/10 students. An application process and registration through Superior CVI will take place if the interest in the program is evident. 

Cost: Possible costs for the program include volleyball clinics and coaching support

Student-athletes play and practice their volleyball skills and gain that competitive edge to become more skilled at the sport. 

Students build relationships with peers who share a common goal. 

In addition to two elective credits dedicated to improving the foundations of volleyball for 2 sections, students will be timetabled into 6 academic courses. 

The co – ed Academy program is designed for student-athletes who are willing to invest their time and effort to improve their game and to advance their knowledge and fitness levels.   

In addition to court development, students will have access to the weight room for strength, coordination and endurance training and in the classroom for healthy activity living, nutrition and sport psychology. 

Students will grow both athletically and academically in a program that fosters teamwork, leadership, and personal development.
