Raising the Flag for Special Olympics at Westgate

Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute, in partnership with the Knights of Columbus, showed their support of the Special Olympics at a flag raising ceremony on Tuesday, March 7. The flag has been travelling across the province and will be raised at the Special Olympics Provincial School Championships in June.

“Westgate was extremely proud to host the Special Olympics Flag Raising Ceremony with the Knights of Columbus,” says Tara Shewchuk, Special Education Teacher, Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute. “Our students and staff are great supporters of the Special Olympics and we have extended that support to hosting the flag raising at Westgate.

The Special Olympics Flag was raised by Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute students and members of the Knights of Columbus following a short presentation by local dignitaries. Members of the Law Enforcement Torch Run were also in attendance.
