Staying Afloat at Boulevard Lake

For the second year, Grade 8 students from Kingsway Park Academy will be finishing their Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA) canoe certification on Friday, October 6. In addition, the Kingsway Park students will be working in partnership with Confederation College and the Let’s Talk Science program to study water and practice orienteering at Boulevard Lake.
“It is definitely going to be a very busy and productive day for the students in the Kingsway Park Academy,” says Darren Lentz, Principal of Kingsway Park Public School. “Not only will they complete their canoeing certification, they will have the unique opportunity to work with college students as they study water quality and analyzation.”
The Kingsway students will also finish their third session of canoeing where they will be earning their Ontario Recreational Canoeing certification in flatwater canoeing. ORCKA is Ontario’s certifying and safety body for canoeing in the province.
Let’s Talk Science is a national, award-winning charitable organization committed to community and school outreach by post-secondary student and professional volunteers. The programs motivate, prepare and support educators and engage children and youth in quality learning experiences that develop their interest in science, engineering, technology and math.
