Students Taking a Ride

During the month of November, Lakehead Public Schools Indigenous students in Grade 9 through 12 who may be new to Thunder Bay or returning will have the opportunity to join the “Take a Ride” chartered tour to learn more about the City. On Thursday, November 1, Westgate Collegiate Vocational Institute students will spend the day traveling around the city by bus and visiting a number of locations to learn about recreation and health services available to them in the community. A focus on safe spaces and safe places will also be a significant component of the day.

“This unique tour of our community is all about positive places and positive spaces,” says Ashley Nurmela First Nation, Metis and Inuit (FNMI) Community Liaison Officer. “We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work with our community partners to provide this genuine learning experience for our students.
